Mohammed Zaza is a Syrian visual artist working primarily in painting, illustrations, and animation.
Born in Riyadh Saudi Arabia in 1987, Zaza moved back to Syria in 2005 to study Fine Arts at Aleppo University, where he graduated with honours and was appointed as a teacher, a position he held from his graduation until the start of the Syrian Revolution.
Since then, he has traveled and resided in many cities of the Middle East and Europe. He finds in the travel and discovery of other cultures a state of inspiration and learning that feeds his artistic work and provides him with a language in which to communicate with others.
He has held several solo exhibitions, including It is not a coincidence (Brussels Gallery weekend, Belgium) and Every change is a revival (Hafez Gallery, Saudi Arabia), and participated in many joint exhibitions.
Choosing to paint in a style sometimes described as neo-surrealist, Zaza believes that a painting as one of the archetypal artistic media, remains up to the challenge of presenting contemporary themes – and will remain inherent to the artist's condition.
In his art studio experience, his artwork explores the boundaries of play, realism, and surrealism, putting the viewer on a horizon line of new dimensions and evoking movement in the state of the image.
Zaza's artwork uses acrylic and oil on canvas and his choice of large scale is part of the character of the work.
